AEP Texas crews are positioned to begin restoration after Tropical Storm Nicholas

September 13, 2021

AEP Texas crews are staged in Port Lavaca, Bay City and El Campo as Tropical Storm Nicholas continues its path and is expected to make landfall Monday night near Port Lavaca. The storm is expected to bring heavy rains, flooding, and power outages to parts of the northernmost part of the Corpus Christi District.

Additional resources from other districts have arrived to assist with the restoration effort once the storm moves through the area.

Customers in the path of the storm should see the most activity late into the evening. Please remember the following safety reminders:

  • Consider any downed power line energized and dangerous. Do not touch anything in contact with the line, such as trees, fences or puddles of water. Because of the likelihood that the storm will cause many lines to fall, customers are asked to keep their children and pets inside during and after the storm.
  • Please report any downed power lines or safety hazards immediately to our Customer Operations Center at (868) 223-8508.
  • Customers on life support systems or other medical equipment, which rely on electricity, are reminded to have a backup plan for situations where prolonged outages may occur.
