AEP Texas issues ETRs for Hurricane Nicholas outages

AEP Texas crews continue the restoration effort after Hurricane Nicholas left more than 14,000 customers without power early Tuesday morning. Assessment teams have discovered the most damage to Transmission and Distribution electrical facilities were in Matagorda County where the storm made landfall.

With 75 percent of the damage assessment complete, crews have reported the following: 100 trees requiring trimming; 47 utility poles down; 15 transformer replacements needed; 3,070 feet of primary wire down; and 881 feet of secondary wire down.

At 7:45 p.m., the areas experiencing the highest amounts of customer outages are as follows:

  • Palacios-1,700
  • Matagorda-2,000
  • Wadsworth-325
  • Markham-500
  • Bay City and surrounding area-9,200

Estimated Times of Restoration (ETR): AEP Texas crews expect to have restored electric service to at least 95 percent of customers affected using the following projected ETRs:

  • Wadsworth     Wednesday, 5 p.m.
  • Matagorda      Wednesday, 5 p.m.
  • Palacios          Wednesday, 5 p.m.
  • Bay City          Wednesday, 9 p.m.

  • Markham        Wednesday, 9 p.m.
