SHREVEPORT, La., August 25, 2014 – Carey Sullivan has been named director, corporate communications for AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) in Shreveport. She is responsible for company communications activities in SWEPCO's three-state service area of northwest and central Louisiana, east and north Texas, and western Arkansas.

Sullivan had been serving as project outreach strategist for the AEP Transmission group in Ohio since January 2014. She previously had served as principal communications consultant and social media manager for AEP Service Corporation in Columbus, Ohio since 2008.

Sullivan began her career as a newspaper journalist, has worked in public relations in the education and healthcare fields and served as the marketing director of the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.

A native of Shorewood, Illinois, Sullivan earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Sullivan is married and has two children. She attends St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is a private pilot, enjoys coaching her boys' sports, and Southern food.
