Service Mechanic-A Johnny Gutierrez, Line Mechanic-D Seth Garcia, Line Mechanic-A Nick Pacheco, and Service Mechnic-A Raul De Leon made the extra effort to prevent future outages from happening for a neighborhood. To them, achieving Perfect Power means doing everything you can to make the fix permanent for the customer.
When Raul De Leon, a mechanic with over 35 years of experience, ran into an old friend at the grocery store, a quick chat about flickering lights sparked an immediate response. Rather than letting it slide, Raul took it upon himself to check out the issue, embodying the proactive spirit that defines his work. "We fix trouble calls. We find trouble and we fix it. That's what we do every single day," he said.
When he arrived at the scene, Raul used binoculars to inspect the transformer and quickly spotted some discoloration on one of the lugs-a major red flag. His team discovered two problems: a faulty connection on the secondary line and a loose load side wire. Realizing the potential impact on the entire block, they didn't stop there; they also trimmed back tree limbs that could interfere with power delivery. In just under 15 minutes, they resolved multiple issues that could have led to a bigger problem for customers down the road.
Raul believes in the idea of "Perfect Power," which drives his team to seek solutions and prevent outages.
“It feels good to have leadership back our commitment to customer service,” he said.
By sharing knowledge and setting high standards, they create a culture where going the extra mile is just part of the job. It's this dedication to reliability and service that ensures customers can count on their power, even when challenges arise.
