Asset Controller improves and bolsters our existing electric distribution communication system. Using a small device installed on AEP Texas-owned streetlights and non-roadway lighting (security lights in backyards), we will now be able to know when a light is out; the exact location of a streetlight or non-roadway light outage; or other system irregularity before a service interruption occurs or before the light goes out. This information will travel directly to our Billing Accounting Organization to make any necessary corrections and to send a service order immediately to AEP Texas crews to replace the light. Installation of the Asset Controllers will take place over a five-year period beginning June 2023.
