South Texas crews - upgrades helped limit impacts
As Winter Storm Fern moved into the Rio Grande Valley, crews prepared equipment, monitored conditions and staged personnel to respond quickly and safely. Recent grid upgrades increased system resilience, keeping outages manageable and allowing faster restorations when they occurred. Teams operated on continuous rotations with contractors on standby, focused on safety and customer service. AEP Texas will continue investing in and modernizing the system to further improve reliability during severe weather.
Corpus Christi crews - restore power efficiently
Corpus Christi District crews worked continuously Jan. 23-26 to safely restore power during Winter Storm Fern, despite cold wind, rain, ice and a localized storm cell. The outage peak occurred around noon on Jan. 25, affecting about 3,000 customers, with the El Campo area seeing the toughest conditions.
District leadership said early incident coordination and recent system investments helped keep outages lower than expected and enabled faster, safe restorations. There were no injuries or accidents during the response.
