Several women with the AEP Texas San Angelo Service Center came together Feb. 18 to help fight heart disease. At San Angelo Go Red for Women, hundreds of people filled the room to support the American Heart Association and its mission to help women have longer and healthier lives.

The event was held to raise money for medical research and awareness for women's heart health as cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in America. Several people who survived cardiac events shared their experience, stating early detection and CPR helped save their lives.

Jessica Willey, San Angelo Administrative Assistant, said she enjoyed seeing the community come together for this cause.

The evening concluded with a lesson in hands-only CPR where a local paramedic walked a member of the audience through how to do CPR properly.

San Angelo Safety & Health Coordinator, Kailey Alfheim, said she is thankful AEP Texas purchased a table at this event.
