Approximately 50 line and service crews continued rebuilding infrastructure and restoring power early Saturday to residents in Alice after storms destroyed pieces of the area’s electric grid.
At 11:15 a.m. Saturday, approximately 850 customers remain without power down from a peak of 5,800 late Thursday night.
An estimated time of restoration (ETR) of noon Saturday has been issued for a significant percentage of the remaining customers out of power, dependent on a successful rebuild of a distribution line in Alice. Approximately 50 utility poles were damaged or knocked over during the storm.
AEP Texas thanks all customers in the Alice area for their patience and understanding while crews restore electric service to all customers.
AEP Texas urges customers to remain alert and follow these important safety guidelines:
- Treat all downed power lines as energized and dangerous. Stay at least 10 feet away and do not attempt to move or touch anything in contact with the line.
- Those relying on life support or critical medical equipment should maintain a backup power plan during extended outages.
- Use portable generators according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Operate generators outdoors and away from windows to avoid carbon monoxide hazards.
