Eagle Pass teach electrical safety to students

17 de marzo de 2026

Roughly 100 fifth-grade students had the opportunity to learn about electricity from a group of AEP Eagle Pass employees. Samuel Garza, Matthew Cardenas, Andres Flores, and Hazel Flores visited Armando Cerna Elementary School for Career Day where they were able to expand on lessons the students learned in class.

The school selected AEP Texas to speak at Career Day because the students recently learned about insulators, conductors, and circuits in class. The team connected the students' lessons on insulators and conductors to the tools AEP employees use to restore power and stay safe on the job.

They emphasized safety and showed students some of the safety gear technicians use every day including hard hats, specialized clothing, and rubber sleeves. Distribution employees also used a demonstration to explain how electricity is generated at a power plant before it is delivered to homes and schools through transmission and distribution lines.
