AEP Texas employees brought tools, trucks and safety gear to Nixon High School’s career day to introduce students to electrical careers and the work crews do every day.

Line and service mechanics, a line crew leader and a regional external affairs manager showcased equipment and safety gear and spoke with students about high-voltage work and career pathways. Several students gravitated to the AEP booth, asking questions and trying out demonstrations that illustrated day-to-day duties.

"Our future is the recruitment of new talent who desires the electrical career that can sustain a living and opportunities to grow," Regional External Affairs Manager Vee Strauss said. "Exposing this talent to the levels available in our industry is rewarding to communicate and helps plant a seed where otherwise youth might not know about us."
