AEP Texas Temporarily De-Energizes Power Lines Near Mill Fire in Gregory

October 29, 2025

AEP Texas temporarily de-energized select power lines in Gregory Wednesday afternoon at the request of local authorities to prevent a potential threat to public safety. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 480 customers are without power in the affected area.

AEP Texas crews are on standby. When local officials authorize AEP Texas to enter the impacted area, crews can complete damage assessment, start restoring service and determine an estimated time of restoration (ETR) for the area.

By de-energizing select power lines, crews were able to prevent additional outages in the area.

AEP Texas urges all residents in the area to follow instructions from local emergency management officials and to stay safe.

AEP Texas will provide an updated ETR when it is available. For outage updates, safety information, and resources, visit aeptexas.com.
