(CORPUS CHRISTI, TX -FEB. 25, 2019) AEP Texas officially dedicated its new, state-of-the-art Service Center facility in Corpus Christi, Texas, at 10 a.m., Monday, February 25. The new 95,000 square-foot facility is located on a 22-acre site located at 6024 Crosstown Expressway in Corpus Christi.
"Today we dedicate this beautiful new service center in Corpus Christi," said Judith E. Talavera, AEP Texas president and chief operating officer. "We are proud that AEP Texas is based in Corpus Christi and we are excited to add to the city's growth and future with this new facility."
The building incorporates energy efficient and environmentally responsible design principles and can withstand winds associated with a Category 5 storm. It will house approximately 110 employees.
Tom Coad, vice president of Distribution Region Operations, said that the opening of the new service center begins a new era for AEP Texas and its operations in the Corpus Christi area.
"This new location replaces two facilities - the Lipan Service Center and the Southside Office - and brings together the majority of the line and service crews, as well as support staff who work in the Corpus Christi area, into one location," Coad said. "This centralized location is strategically located and offers us plenty of room for expansion and future growth if needed."
The facility is one of two new AEP Texas service centers in the Corpus Christi area. A Transmission Service Center opened earlier this year in northwest Corpus Christi. A new Aransas Pass Service Center is currently under construction and is expected to open later this summer.
