AEP Texas reports scattered outages associated
with Tropical Storm Harold’s approach to the Texas coast
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (August 22, 2023) – At 11 a.m., approximately 10,500 customers are without power across south Texas as heavy rains and winds associated with Tropical Storm Harold begin to arrive on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Once the storm passes and as soon as safely possible, crews will begin addressing safety hazards and assessing any damage to our electrical facilities.
As a general safety reminder, please consider any downed power lines energized and stay at least ten feet away from them. Also, please keep children and pets inside immediately following the storm.
To prepare for the storm, AEP Texas has assembled over 1,500 available Distribution and Transmission workers across the Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, and Laredo Districts.
