AEP Texas crews responding to outages across south Texas

May 29, 2024

A strong line of storms that moved across Texas late Tuesday and early Wednesday has left approximately 12,500 customers without power, down from an approximate peak number of outages of 30,000. AEP Texas crews are currently responding to outages in the Laredo, Rio Grande Valley, and Corpus Christi Districts.

The outages are spread across south Texas as follows:

Laredo District – 4,750
Corpus Christi – 4,800
Rio Grande Valley – 2,800

Initial reports estimate wind gusts of 60 mph in the affected areas.

 

AEP Texas reminds customers to consider all down power lines energized and dangerous. Please stay at least ten feet away from any downed power lines.
