AEP Texas Stands Ready for the 2024 Hurricane Season

The 2024 hurricane season officially kicks off today, Saturday, June 1. AEP Texas is fully prepared to support our customers through any storms our communities may face this season. For essential hurricane preparation and safety tips, we encourage customers to visit AEPTexas.com/safety.

"At AEP Texas we remain prepared for hurricane season," AEP Texas Communications Director Omar Lopez said. "From our crews to our call centers, we conduct drills and practice storm scenarios to ensure we can respond effectively to any outage situation. Our year-round efforts ensure that when a hurricane hits, we are ready to provide safe, reliable electric service to our customers - or restore quickly and safely."

By visiting the AEP Texas website, customers can access important resources including:

  • Emergency Kit Video: Learn how to build a personal emergency kit.
  • Storm Guidelines: Instructions on what to do before, during, and after a storm.
  • Downed Power Line Safety: Stay at least 10 feet away from downed power lines.
  • Hurricane Safety Poster: Print and display a poster with key safety tips.
