AEP Texas teams recently visited two elementary schools in Rio Grande City for career day events, giving students a closer look at the people, equipment and teamwork behind electric service.
Employees led age-appropriate presentations about utility careers and safety, showing how crews use tools in the field. Demonstrations included a digger display and a bucket truck to illustrate how line crews work at height, along with hands-on explanations of common tools and safety precautions around electricity.
Students met Louie the Lightning Bug, took part in interactive quizzes, and received goody bags with coloring books, crayons and a Louie hand puppet. Teachers and staff joined the visits, and employees said the events were rewarding for both students and the team.
These outreach activities reflect AEP Texas’s employee commitment to customers and the communities we serve by promoting safety, education and community connection.
