AEP Texas employees visited Noonan Elementary in Alice for career day, reaching nearly 500 students with lessons on electrical safety and career opportunities. Students tried on protective gear, explored tools and displays, and visited Louie the Lightning Bug.
A distribution system supervisor demonstrated a “safety town” model featuring a house, road, transmission and distribution lines, and a small pond to safely show low-voltage faults and common hazards like trees or kites in lines, and to explain the importance of PPE around equipment.
The event also created personal connections: one employee's child attended in a company shirt and showed interest in a future utility career. These outreach efforts highlight AEP Texas's employee commitment to customers and communities by promoting safety, education and pride in utility careers.
