San Benito employees brought trucks, tools and demonstrations to the Santa Rosa High School College and Career Fair to introduce students to the variety of jobs at AEP Texas.

Students watched a digger-truck demonstration, learned to read a meter and handled the equipment crews use on the job. "By engaging with youth early, we hope to inspire interest, build understanding, and encourage them to envision themselves as part of our workforce one day," said Lorraine Garcia, a Customer Services Account representative.

Line crew leadership said the event showed the importance and impact of utility work and the courage required of lineworkers. "It feels fulfilling to be able to encourage young minds to take this incredible pathway. I feel proud of the work I do, so it gives me great pride to guide anyone into line work," said Armando Armas, a Line Crew leader. San Benito participants included representatives from customer service, line crews and equipment maintenance.
