AEP Texas continues to invest in the future of the energy industry by giving $10,000 to the Southwest Texas College Powerline Program. The grant is provided by the AEP Texas Foundation and will help the powerline program provide hands-on training, technical education, and other opportunities to develop the skills needed to safely construct and maintain the power grid.
"Investing in workforce development is investing in the future of our communities," said Jimmy Earnest, External Affairs manager for AEP Texas. "The Southwest Texas College Powerline Program is providing students with valuable technical skills and career opportunities while helping meet the growing demand for skilled utility professionals. AEP Texas is proud to support a program that not only prepares the next generation of line workers but also strengthens the communities we serve."
AEP Texas has supported the college’s program for years with donations and partnerships and multiple graduates have built successful careers within the company.
